Congratulations to GCSE Class of 2019

21st August 2019

The Forest School students are celebrating their GCSE results today.

Shirley Austin, Headteacher said “we are very proud of the results of all our boys, they have worked incredibly hard as the school has gone through a challenging 5 years. These results continue to highlight the great strides taken in moving to above national standards. Typically we see girls outperform boys at GCSE and today our results are compared with all schools across the country, not just the 200 all-boy schools. Our results show, when compared to boys-only results, we see the superb results our boys have achieved today.”

Shirley continued “I would like to congratulate all our students and look forward to continuing our journey with so many of our boys who are staying on to study A’ Levels as well as welcoming boys and girls from our local community joining us in Year 12.”

100% of students achieved the government standard pass in Biology, Chemistry and Physics with 81% in  English and 81% in Maths.

So many boys went beyond their best achieving grade 7 or higher which is equivalent to the old A* and A grade. Individual subject success at this level was high with: English 21%, Maths 22%, Biology 76%, Chemistry 59%, Physics 72%, Film  Studies 25%, Geography 25%, History 25%, Photography 20%, Art 26%, Computer Science 25%, French 21% and Spanish 25%.
