I'm an English teacher here, at The Forest!

Where I went from Forest

Having achieved three A-Levels at Forest6, I left to attend University at Cardiff University. I then completed my PGCE at Reading University.

What I achieved

I achieved three A-Levels whilst at Forest as well as the Head Teacher’s award and the honour of being Head Girl.

Ms Austin was, and still is, my Headteacher.  I was in Bramshill and am now the Head of House for Bramshill which is a real full circle moment!
My best Forest memory...

Choosing a favourite memory is very challenging!

One of my best memories is being taught in room 131 (my now classroom) by Mr Saynor. This was before the English block was refurbished. The walls were dark blue and the heating was unreliable at best.

I was the only girl in my class of seven so already I had something to prove as the new member of the class. I remember sharing my ideas with the group and then Mr Saynor asked us to feedback what we had been discussing.

Another member of my class outright stole my idea and tried to pass it off as his own. Mr Saynor saw right through him and replied “Great idea Charlotte!”.

Another memorable moment was when one member of my class was missing from his history lesson. The night before had been his eighteenth birthday. He had been out late into the evening and thought he would avoid coming into his history lesson the next day. He thought wrong!

Within moments of the lesson beginning, Mrs Ward had him on the phone. She asked his friend to give him a call to find out where he really was. What a shock it must have been to hear Mrs Ward’s voice. But, true to Mrs Ward’s reputation, he was in the room before the lesson ended. Although, he was still in his pyjamas wearing a pair of sliders.

My top tip(s) for current students is...

...to enjoy every minute. It goes by in a flash and before you know it you’re back teaching in the classroom you studied A-Level English in!

Also, show kindness to your teachers. Building positive relationships pays off long after you’ve left school, especially if you plan on returning to train to be a teacher here!
