We pay tribute to Her Majesty, The Queen

9th September 2022

This morning, after the country had received the sad news of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, students and staff at The Forest School stood together at 8:50am before the start of the school day to pay tribute and observe a minute’s silence for Her Majesty.

Shirley Austin, Headteacher, led the tribute to our selfless and beautiful Queen Elizabeth II, providing the school with over 20 significant dates and historical facts from her life and reign to which they could relate: 1926 the year of her birth colour TV was invented; 1969, Neil Armstrong, the first man on the moon; 1997 Hong Kong, a former British colony was returned to China.

Ms Austin made the school community aware of our Queen’s never ending duty even to the last when she appointed our new Prime Minister, Liz Truss, just a few days before her death.  Once again, she put us, her people first, before herself.  God Bless Queen Elizabeth, rest peacefully and in your own words “grief is the price we pay for love”.
